Controlled goods need a licence under the Trade Act and the Official Gazette No. 4 of 1996. Get your goods endorsed, then the Licensing Section issues your licence within a day, free of charge.

The process

Three steps to a licence

  1. 1

    Complete the application in triplicate

    Fill in the Application for Import/Export Licence form three times.

  2. 2

    Get it endorsed

    Take the forms to the trade regulatory agency (or agencies) for your goods. Some issue a letter of endorsement, approval or no objection instead.

  3. 3

    Submit to the Licensing Section

    Bring the endorsed licence and any approval letter to the Department of Commerce, Licensing Section, for final approval. Then go on to the GRA.

After the Ministry approves your licence, take it to the Guyana Revenue Authority.
